Let’s be honest: some weeks, the hardest part of having a Substack is actually getting yourself to write.
You know what we’re talking about.
Inspiration starts to evade you; self doubt and procrastination slowly tiptoe in. You’re overwhelmed, over-scheduled and overthinking it all.
It’s especially true with the world in such crisis. In the face of so much overwhelming sadness and conflict it can be harder than ever to see the point of it all. And that’s before we even delve into the current pressure to show up on social media as if we have all the answers that are impossible to find.
If you’re feeling all or any of this pressure, we’d like to invite you to set it aside for a while.
Give yourself permission to create for nothing more than the magic of making new things. Write in order to just hear yourself think. Share for the people who might need exactly whatever you’re making right now - however simple, frivolous or soft.
World events don’t trivialise our contributions, we do.
It doesn’t matter if your next post won’t change the world. It’s enough if it makes one person’s day fractionally better. Or if it helps you navigate another day in this messy and complicated world.
So! Join us both for a (free) 90 min co-writing session? It’s all happening this Thursday, hosted live on Zoom.
We’re saving some of the details to surprise you, but just know you don’t need to prepare an idea or topic to write about. Just bring yourself, your heart and your writing mojo. (Actually, no mojo required, you can borrow some from the energy of the Zoom Room.)
90 Min Co-Writing Call
Thursday 9th Nov, 8pm GMT
Thursday 9th Nov, 12 noon pm PST
Thursday 9th Nov, 3pm EST
Friday 10th Nov, 7am AEDT
Zoom link is below and available to all subscribers.
This session is an opportunity to allow space for our creativity when nothing else in this world makes sense. 90 tiny-yet-big moments to sit amongst other writers and creatives chasing stories onto our screens…
A note on timezones
The best way to get the right time is to use World Time Buddy. If you’re not sure what AEDT is or PDT is, use London, UK (GMT)) as your starting point. Then add in wherever you are and you’ll get the right time for you. This way it’ll take into account daylight savings changes and there’s less room for error.
This is so ridiculously freeing and simple. After a month of war and massacre footage this seems like an impossible dream and I want to cry this sounds so good. Maybe I’ll come join you.
'It doesn’t matter if your next post won’t change the world. It’s enough if it makes one person’s day fractionally better.' - These were exactly the words I needed to hear today, thank you. I will figure out the time zone conversion for New Zealand, and I'd love to join you if I can 😊
